Ninth Annual Ithaca Sister2Sister Event

Ithaca's Women's Community Center held the 9th Annual Sister2Sister Event for Girls on Saturday. The theme this year was "Seeking Our Dreams". This yearly event allows middle school girls a chance to learn other girls and women  how to be more confident, healthy, and creative. The "Love Your Body Fair" had booths from local organizations such as Tompkins County Solid Waste, Planned Parenthood, Finger Lakes Massage Therapy, Ithaca College's Women Studies program, and Girl Scouts, just to name a few. The local vendors offered a nutritious lunch, hair braiding, massages, natural skin and body care products, sustainable projects, and free belly dancing lessons. However, the event only takes place once a year.
"When the girls fill out their evaluation form at the end they wonder why they can't come back the next Saturday," said Mary Grainger, one of the event's organizers.

Ithaca College Gets an Ed2010 Chapter

Yesterday was the launch party for ED2010. What is Ed2010? It is an organization for college students and recent graduates who want to become editors of magazines. You can hear the whole story by clicking here. As a journalism major who is more interested in print than broadcast I am very excited that Ithaca College now has a chapter. Ed2010's first event on April 6 is about food writing, so be sure to check back for a story about that.

Hello

I am a junior journalism student at Ithaca College and will be posting some of my work with my class partner, Jessica Grunenberg. I will try to credit who does what in each story but for the most part we share the reporting, photography and editing so sometimes I will not specify
